About the Role
Role summary
Waving is looking for a Backend Engineer who is independent, reliable, and has a growth mindset. You will take ownership of backend challenges end-to-end, build robust services that connect sensing devices to control-room workflows, and ensure the system is reliable in real-world deployments.
This role is hands-on and execution-focused. You should be comfortable solving problems independently, making pragmatic engineering decisions, and delivering production-quality systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize backend services and APIs powering Waving’s product.
- Own reliability, performance, observability, and incident response for production systems.
- Build data ingestion and processing flows from edge devices to cloud and integrations.
- Integrate with existing security workflows and control rooms (alerts, events, dashboards).
- Write maintainable code, tests, and documentation, improve CI/CD and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with embedded and data teams to define interfaces and ship end-to-end features.
Requirements
Mandatory requirements
3+ years designing, building, and optimizing backend systems (hands-on)
3+ years professional experience with C or C++
3+ years professional experience with Python
Experience designing and maintaining production backend systems (services, APIs, deployment, monitoring)
Nice to have
Experience working with low-spec hardware.
Familiarity with embedded systems or edge computing.
Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, and Wi-Fi standards.
